Paris — October 2026. At Jeriko (powered by Techmind), we are thrilled to renew our support for CarbonFarm as they close an oversubscribed €7 million Series A funding round.

As an early backer, we have seen firsthand how CarbonFarm, a leader in digital MRV (Measurement, Reporting, and Verification) and project development for rice decarbonization, is turning climate ambition into scalable, field-proven impact across millions of small farms.

The round brings together top impact and climate investors alongside a development finance institution. Led by Colam Impact, the round includes participation from Proparco, Suma Capital, elea, Working Capital Fund, Albo, and BPI France, with renewed backing from existing investors Jeriko & Techmind and Serena & makesense (via Racine²).

The new funding will accelerate CarbonFarm's next growth phase: scaling its technology and field expertise to design, finance, and measure high-integrity rice projects globally.

Rice: an overlooked climate Opportunity

While rice feeds half the world’s population, its cultivation accounts for roughly 12% of global human-caused methane—giving it a climate footprint comparable to global aviation. Rice farming also consumes up to 28% of the world’s freshwater resources.

Practical solutions exist today: improved water management (such as Alternate Wetting and Drying) can reduce methane emissions by up to 50% and water use by up to 30% without reducing yields, while strengthening resilience to extreme weather.

Interest is growing rapidly as rice carbon credits become compatible with major regulated and voluntary carbon markets, drawing attention from global corporates including Amazon and Google.

Because rice is predominantly grown by smallholders on small plots (~1 hectare), scaling requires equipping local stakeholders with verifiable, audit-ready data rather than replacing existing value chains.

CarbonFarm partners directly with producers, cooperatives, agribusinesses, NGOs, and governments, providing them with:

  • Proprietary digital MRV technology: Satellite analysis powered by AI, field-data tools, and GHG modeling to track practices and quantify emissions at the field level.

  • End-to-end project support: From initial project design and climate financing through to certification and buyer matching for corporate Scope 3 claims or carbon credits.

"Scale will not come from replacing local value-chain players; it will come from equipping them. Our role is to help turn local knowledge into programs that can attract finance and stand up to scrutiny."

- Vassily Carantino, Co-founder & CEO, CarbonFarm

Since its seed round, CarbonFarm has expanded across 19 countries, working with major food and ag leaders (Mars Food, Diageo, Ebro, Tilda, BASF Agricultural Solutions), climate finance platforms (Livelihoods Funds, myclimate), international development institutions (World Bank, Asian Development Bank, SNV, Action Against Hunger), and tech partners like Google.

This Series A will enable CarbonFarm to deepen its footprint across Asia, Africa, and Europe while accelerating expansion into Latin America.

We are proud to continue backing Vassily, James, and the entire CarbonFarm team as they build the go-to platform for global rice decarbonization.

"Carbon accounting is becoming much more rigorous, whether it underpins a carbon credit or a corporate Scope 3 claim. Projects that can show clearly how their results were scientifically measured build greater confidence and attract buyers willing to pay a premium for high-quality credits."
